Reporting from the Miami Yacht & Brokerage show 2/24/2016

Cool but sunny weather prevailed at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage, the New Superyacht venue at Watson Island, and the new venue for the Miami yacht show in Key Biscayne.  Attendance was reported up 4% from last year as well.  Yachts are selling and now it’s on to the Palm Beach Boat Show March 17-20 the last big show of the season in Florida. Many different yachts and a different crowd.  This show is easier and more convenient to attend than either Ft. Lauderdale or Miami and Palm Beach is a great backdrop to a great show.  I will be attending to show clients yachts and to inspect the latest offerings on the market.

Great success thus far the New York Boat Show, 2016

The show was very well attended and I met several new clients that I will be taking through the Miami International Boat Show and to private showings on yachts between Jupiter and Key Largo.  Yachts we will be  showing are in the 50-170′ range.  From express cruisers to Expedition yachts.  Let me know if you would like to schedule some time to see the best brokerage yachts in Southern Florida.  Show dates are Feb. 11-15.  Or any other time buy appointment.

Here’s a view of the crowd in front of ACYB exhibit on Friday.

The new 197′ Feadship ROCK.IT enters Newport harbor.  At the Newport Shipyard we see a 120′ cruising catamaran tied up by the new 100′ super Maxie racing yacht COMANCHE with her close competitor RAMBLER 88 tied up inside her.  Both here for the TransAtlantic race.  Across the harbor is the 145′ expedition yacht Scout joining a growing trend of these world circling capable luxury expedition yachts.  Whatever your mission statement we can find the best yacht for you!

A successful New York Boat Show and strong start to 2015. 1/27/2015

FullSizeRender

We just finished a well attended NY Boat show despite a snow storm that hit Saturday morning.  Dealers were taking orders, venders were processing sales well over last year.  This broker saw a big uptick in interest from Mainship 40’s to Westport 164’s.  Many clients are planning to attend the Miami International Boat Show starting February. and I am making appointments to show them yachts in and around the show and the surrounding area from Palm Beach to Key Largo.  2015 is looking to start strong and yacht sales have picked up significantly.

December 2014 Market outlook

Just a market update as we approach the holidays and wind up a successful 2014.  The industry saw about a 6% uptick in business over a successful 2013.  I attended and showed yachts at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show at the beginning of November.  The crowds were definitely up this year and the number of yachts and venders were up as well.  A good indicator of the resurgence of the market was that most of the major yacht builders had increased their investment in the show. Up scaling their exhibits and the number of yachts exhibited.  More listings are coming on the market as their owners are ready to make a move up as well.  The prices of brokerage yachts are starting to firm up but they are still historically low and good valuations exist on good, clean, well cared for yachts.  Verses in earlier years where sellers in trouble were short selling some yachts and some of those had not been kept up.

We are now preparing for the 2015 winter selling season kicking it off at the New York International Boat Show at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan Jan 21-25.  It is a great break from the winter weather and a great place to meet with representatives of the major electronics and yacht accessory manufacturers.  It is also a good time to meet with me and discuss what your next move is in your yachting plans for the coming season.  After meeting clients and prospective clients here it is only a few short weeks to the Miami Boat Show.  I will be in attendance to show yachts that I have lined up for clients both in the show and the where I have located suitable yachts typically between Jupiter and Key Largo.  The great concentration of brokerage yachts in southern Florida is between Palm Beach/Jupiter and Miami.  So it is a great time to take advantage of being in this area and letting me make arrangement to see the yachts that would be suitable to consider.  Many of the yachts are in secure marinas, gated communities, or at private homes so it takes some prior planning for me to set up the showings.  Having said that we can make adjustments on the fly if we define new priorities while looking.

After Miami we have the Palm Beach Boat Show March 26-29.  A whole different vibe and mostly different yachts.  It is a show and city that are easy to get around in.  Palm Beach has a rich heritage, great hotels and restaurants, and has a small city feel.  The boat show is located on the city’s waterfront  with good municipal and private parking lots close by.  Again, I will be there the whole time to show and inspect yacht to/for clients.  This show signals the primary winter selling season coming to a close before many yachts head north.  The sellers understand that and are usually quite motivated to conclude business there before moving their yachts north or leaving them there until the fall season.

I am constantly monitoring the U.S. and foreign markets for good deals for my clients.  With the internet and 35 years of experience of networking with brokers in Florida, the West Coast, the Great Lakes, and Europe I do serve my clients well. I think that I offer my clients more value than less experienced brokers.  From a product knowledge standpoint, practical experience, current market assessment, and ultimately handling the whole purchase or selling experience in a professional manner.  I look forward to the 2015 season and helping my clients achieve their yachting goals!

To a great 2015!
